S.Toji a small scale marginal farmer hailing from Rurur-B village (shamator block) under Shamator sub division has been cultivating the TRC paddy for more than seven (7) years. The SMAM scheme which was implemented under the central scheme for the farmers has benefitted him in many ways. Before this scheme he has faced a lot of problems towards the management of farms or their fields for works. The farmers had faced problems such as like extra men day's works for a small job on their fields, extra cost in wages but after this scheme was implement; it has become easy for the farmers in the increase of area production and productivity of the crops through the farm machines and equipments which was being provided by the department. Before the scheme it was not easy for the farmers to till or plough their farms or fields as due to poor financial background it was a
hurdle to buy such farm machineries to work on their fields. But the department has provided assistance through the scheme by which they have provided the power tillers to his needs as well as other farmers. Now that he got the power tillers from the government through the department assistance he can now manage or upgrade the farming methods by tilling or ploughing the fields without extra cost or extra days of work on his field. Now he is also providing assistance to the other farming population in his village by renting the machines on the basis of hiring process. So now he not only work on his field with the machines but also provide services to other farming population
in his village. It has become another income source for him through the Power Tiller. It has now become easy for the farmers to increase area production and productivity of the crops by upgrading the standards of farming methods with the help of farm machinery. With the help of the farm machinery, he now has improvised his cultivation methods which not only saves time but also give him good income in return since he no longer needed extra men to work on his field and cut the cost of extra amount of money. Before the power tiller was provided to him by the department, his net
income was around only 10,000 per annum but with the help of farm machines he now able to generate income of 30,000 to 35,000 per annum approximately. The drastic change on his income is due to the farm machinery which have now cut down the cost of extra labor and days. Now he can yield higher yield in his field by using the power tiller.
