Dielhoulie Terhase a service provider and a farmer from alsoma Village who owns a WTRC land area of 3 Ha in Thuthe area in alsoma Village availed a Power tiller of 12 Hp under SMAM (2018-19). Due to lack of manpower and high cost of labour charge, he gave up the idea of growing rice in that particular area. But after the intervention of farm machinery-power filler, he was encouraged to cultivate rice again. He hires 25-30 people annually for ploughing the field @450/person which became very costly for him to manage. Now, he can plough his field all by himself within a day with very less expenditure. Mr. Terhase not only works for himself now but provides service to other fellow farmers within the village who need to plough their field at a hiring rate of 2600/Hr and earns handsome amount during that period. Besides the decrease in cost of cultivation and ease of ploughing the field, he has said that use of power tiller has shown good results in increasing the soil fertility since the plants/weeds that are present in the field are incorporated properly into the soil during the process which further decomposes and enriches the soil. His success story has encouraged many other farmers in the village to mechanise the farms. Thus, SMAM has helped him a lot in raising his agricultural productivity and income.
